MONSTER

  • wedge clay 

  • make two pinch pots and combine them

  • make them tall so its more like a oval

  • put holes in each side of the pinch pot  (on the bottom large hold and on the top small hole)

  • make two more pinch pots and combine them small hole in the bottom

  • attach the two circles together

  • make a large worm for the tail

  • put a piece of clay through the slab roller and cut out triangles

  • score and slip the the triangles to the worm score and slip the worm to the back  of the body 

  • then curl the tail in a swirl

  • make more worms for the arms and cut out dots to score and slip to the arms to make tentacles score and slip those evenly on each side of the body

  • take one worm and wave it then score and slip it to the head

  • make three dots for the eyes score and slip them 

  • make two tubes for the ears and score and slip them 

  • make a flat oval and add a worm to the top so it looks like a purse then score and slip those to the arms 

  • use a flat piece of clay to cut out a rectangle and a oval score and slip those together for the legs then score and slip them to the body 

  • make a worm and two triangles for the mouth attach the worm and then two triangles below it to the face

  • make two worms and two starts for the earnings attach them together 

  • score and slip the earrings to just below the ears 

  • fire

  • glaze according to the picture

  • fire

  • touch up the glaze and clear glaze 

  • fire 

  • glue all the pieces that fell off together

This piece was a ton of work, my kid had a lot of small details that added up. Unfortunately there were a few elements I could not add because they weren't realistic for clay, for example she wanted it to be standing, and have planets hovering by a string above it. I did have a lot of fun making this piece, I think kids creativity is so unique and it was really fun to work with. If I had to make this again I would try and attach things more securely because I had to glue a lot of things back on that fell off and the earrings went missing. My favorite part about this piece is how it is carrying little purses I think that is really cute. I hope Evie likes it!
